Kogi State University, located at Anyigba, is the state-owned University of Kogi, Nigeria. It was established in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu, the former governor of the state. At the time of its establishment, it was known as Kogi State University, It was named Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in 2002 and later renamed Kogi State University in 2003 (KSU).Kogi State University commenced academic activities in April 2000 with six faculties: Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. The university added the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine with extensive office and laboratory complexes. The Centre for Pre-Degree and Diploma Studies was established to run diploma and pre-degree programmes. Students of the pre-degree programme could gain admission into the degree programme if they are successful in the internal exams and need not write the Post-UTME exams.
The university offers many courses and 98% of the courses offered in the university are accredited by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC).

Kogi State University Admission Requirements:
Interested applicants seeking admission into the KSU are required to meet up with their selected departmental requirements, including meeting up with several other general requirements.
All applicants seeking admission into KSU must possess the list requirement below
- Applicant must be at least 16 year of age
- Applicant must at least possess a credit level passes in Five (5) subjects including English language and Mathematics and any other relevant subjects at the SSCE/GCE ‘O’ level/NECO or its equivalent.
- Applicant must meet all Faculty and Departmental requirements.
- Applicant must obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University Post-UTME screening test;
MODE OF ENTRY AND DURATION
A candidate can enter into KSU degree programme through either the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or the Direct Entry (DE). The UTME candidates spend a minimum of four (4) years and a maximum of six (6) years on the programme. The DE candidates spend a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of five (5) years on the programme.
B. ENTRY REQUIREMENT
In addition to the general entry requirements approved for admission into Nigerian universities, candidates must have passed the SSCE/GCE ordinary level or its equivalent with at least credit pass in five subjects to meet the requirements for admission.
1. UTME ADMISSIONS
Candidates for UTME admission must have;
i. An acceptable score in UTME
ii. Five credit passes at SSCE, NECO, GCE O’ Level or equivalent
